The October half term is a perfect time to visit The Cotswolds. With changing leaves, cosy cottages and plenty of Halloween themed events to choose from, you can enjoy some silly and scary fun with your family among the region’s beautiful farms, estates and castles. Here are a few of our favourite Halloween events we’re excited for this season:

Halloween events at Overfarm

Overfarm near Gloucester is the place to go for family friendly, country-inspired Halloween events. It’s a popular spot to pick your own pumpkins throughout October, but during the final two weeks of the month, they hold Pumpkins After Dark which is pumpkin picking on another level.

Pick up a pumpkin under the twinkling night sky while enjoying moody lighting, music and fire dancers. A super fun event for older kids or even as a date night. Overfarm also hold Spookyard, a special family event during half term where the whole family can come in their spookiest fancy dress and meet weird witches, enjoy performances and take part in fun, farm themed carnival games.

Pumpkin Festival and Halloween Best Dressed Pitch event at Cotswold Farm Park

A trip to Cotswold Farm Park during October gets you a free pumpkin token to pick up a souvenir gourd from their pumpkin patch! On top of that, Cotswold Farm Park have brought spooky elements to the farm such as family-friendly Halloween themed mazes, selfie stations, face painting and autumn inspired foodie treats!

If you’re planning on a camping trip to the farm over Halloween. On the 29th October, they’re holding a Best Dressed Pitch competition, where campers can dress up their pitches with scary props and you can don your best costumes to win to best dressed pitch. Afterwards there will also be a Halloween party with live music at the Ox Shed bar & restaurant!

The Big Bat Trail - Rococo Garden

For a not so spooky and nature filled day out, then head over to Rococo Garden for a story themed trail around the gardens from the 22-29 October. The Big Bat character, created by local author and illustrator Hannah Shaw leads explorers on an adventure around the pretty and already magical Rococo Gardens.

Spooky Cellars At The Mansion - Woodchester Mansion

Step inside a haunted mansion and explore the cellars and ghouls that hide below the ground floor. Woodchester Mansion go all out to dress up their cellars with a particularly spooky atmosphere with characters to match from the 25-30 October. Visitors are encouraged to come along in fancy dress too and then in their tea rooms they’re serving up tasty seasonal treats to warm up after some chilling adventures!

Halloweek at Sudeley Castle

Dive into a Tudor themed Halloween at Sudeley Castle for half term where you can discover everything about the life and after-life of England’s only Queen buried in a private Chapel, Katherine Parr! With plenty more characters from history to meet across the castle, family-friendly gruesome games, a spooky trail and scary stories to keep little ghouls entertained!

Scarily Ever After at Fairytale Farm

Come and meet The Sea Witch and join her sing-along sessions at Scarily Ever After, from the 22-30 October. There will be a trail to spot the Sea Witch's eels, pumpkin picking, pumpkin carving, paint a pumpkin competition and plenty more activities to get little ones into the Halloween spirit! On the 29th October, there’s a special late night Halloween and illuminations party which is a great option for those looking for a fun and not-too-scary after dark Halloween event.
