After such uncertainty for independent businesses – across retail, hospitality and tourism – during lockdown, it is brilliant to see so many Cotswolds’ businesses re-opening their doors this weekend. Some with brand-new offerings and all with adapted ‘COVID Safe’ protocols in place to ensure locals and visitors can visit and support them with confidence. Here are just a few of the local Cotswolds’ businesses that we can’t wait to visit as they reopen this month…

The Chequers

The Chequers, Churchill will be reopening this weekend, with all plans in place for a safe, yet laid-back experience. Their rustic, British menu is back with a seasonal update and the Insta-worthy interiors are as inviting as ever, as is the garden and terrace – perfect for a long-overdue family gathering. Call ahead to book your table and pre-order from the menu. You can find out more about their COVID-safe measures here.

The Bell at Sapperton

The Bell in pretty Sapperton near Cirencester is opening its doors to regulars this weekend too, one of our favourite family-friendly spots in The Cotswolds, they are super welcoming for all family members (they even have horse parking if you need a refreshment whilst out on a ride!). As well as being able to dine in, their popular click and collect takeaway service is back too. Check out our Cirencester Area Guide for more dining ideas nearby.

The Wild Rabbit in Kingham
The front terrace at the Wild Rabbit in Kingham is sure to be a sort-after spot after months away from the modern, British Inn. With all the seasonal, organic fare on the menu you'd expect from the Daylesford stable, tables need to be booked ahead and food and drinks orders placed in advance too, to ensure a smooth running operation and a safe experience for all. Their stylish rooms are reopening too if you have visiting friends and family over the summer.

Baileys Home Store
Over the border in Herefordshire, Baileys Home Store is a firm favourite with Cotswolds' interiors lovers - while the tin tabernacle tearoom remains closed the store is open for business; filled with stylish fairtrade, artisan home accessories, lighting, furniture and gifts.

The Green Dragon Inn
An amazing example of a local business diversifying during lockdown is The Green Dragon Inn between Cirencester and Chelthenham in Cockleford. Their newly opened countryside shop is great for those who don't want to venture to the bigger stores yet - stocking a range of daily food essentials as well as local produce and deli delights. There are takeaway meal options, or why not pop next door to the newly re-opened pub?

Stuart Holmes
One of the most anticipated re-opening this weekend is that of the nation's hairdressers - Award-winning salon, Stuart Holmes has reopened in Cheltenham to tame the lockdown locks of Cotswolds' residents. Book in for some overdue R&R - it will definitely be worth the wait! (note: beauty treatments are not available yet).
